I'll have it up on our server in about 30 mins.

You realize that some server admins and players like VQ4, right?jester! wrote:Q4Max = VQ4 only how it is when you have smooth framerates. There are no physics tweaks whatsoever.
ALL baseq4 servers should go over to Q4Max imo, there is no reason not to unless you have some sick hatred of brightskins.
Because some people don't share your obsessive need to whine and don't want to run a mod. If you don't enjoy VQ4 then fine play whatever mod you'd like, but don't expect everyone to share that opinion.jester! wrote:What does VQ4 have that Q4Max doesnt? Other then a vastly lower average framerate for their players? Less potential game modes? Forced view bobbing due to many server admins not having the knowledge or care to change it?
What meaningful argument is there against using Q4Max or XBM vs VQ4?
Not everyone plays OSP or other mods on Q3 either, becase some people like both stock games and didn't want to play a modded version. As for the whining, its a reference to your apparent need to snivel about Q4 every chance you get.jester! wrote:rofl where is the whine?!
I state that Q4Max is in every way vq4's equal or superior and that there is no reason to not use it. You state that some people prefer it, I ask for why, you say I have an obsessive need to whine.
oooooooook. :icon32:

Edit: To address your edited points, those things couldn't be "fixed in week 1". FFS, there are business decisions to be made, budgets to be allocated, dev teams to set to work, and then QA testing before it can be released. You're not taking into account that Raven is a business, and this game also involves Activision and ID. In my experience, anytime an outside business is involved, let alone two, decision making and communications both slow to a crawl.
Some server admins and players don't feel the need to Foo, just as there are many VQ3 servers around still. Q4Max is a mod (read choice), not a requirement to play.Foo wrote:Currently, the argument for not using the mod is the autodownload bug.
That's about it. Much like OSP, once it's transparent on the server side (OSP can be 'invisible' and run to look like baseq3 if desired) then there is no reason not to use it if it enhances functionality without changing gameplay.
Fine torm, but what is it that is different about VQ4 that Q4Max cannot provide for you?Tormentius wrote:
To put this in perspective, I run a Q4Max and a Q4W server but still enjoy playing VQ4 on a couple of other servers simply because the stock game isn't bad either.
I don't follow, in terms of the game is Q4max any different?Tormentius wrote:Some server admins and players don't feel the need to Foo, just as there are many VQ3 servers around still. Q4Max is a mod (read choice), not a requirement to play.
