So Christmas got a lil bit funky...
I didn't even know about festivus untill I read about it when someone had post it in here. I know there is a part where you all tell to one another what you have disliked about one another, thus it must be quiet challenging with a sharp edge.
I don't know what to say...
Just that I really wish you the best to come in this Holliday and be 2006 the first of the best of years to come. Pete

Re: So Christmas got a lil bit funky...
This is how I always picture Christmas except I also usually imagine kids fighting over toys too.riddla wrote:...when I went all Festivus on my family and began the traditional airing of grievances over their rather specific and stupendously fucking self-centered hypocrisies. Had this story been from their telling, they're simply perfectly righteous upstanding devout Christians (who have incidentally somehow been given the right to completely and utterly slander/dehumanize each and every family member seconds after their departure while only moments earlier were kissing their ass while in presence, etc etc etc, then have the gall to turn around and start faux-witnessing for Christ in the next breath). In short, they're further from Christians than most would ever imagine... this coming from someone who considers himself a peaceful, yet keen observer of the tragically hilarious folly of present-day American religion
To make a long story short, our traditional faux-Christian Christmas day all ended just before 8PM with my father and I coming to near blows over what would have been nothing more than a mere lively conversation had a sane individual been in dad's position (mom tackled dad after two missed swings lol). I'm 6" taller and in much better shape - he's been a cigarette smoker since he was 6 years old* ...not to mention I'm 25 years younger and a non-smoker. Even the family dog, usually viciously protective of my dad, was standing several feet away in complete awe giving dad a distinct look of wtf mate???
As the violence ensued, the whole incident played out like some Jedi moment and everything was clear as a bell as I moved to avert so effortlessly and had a mental lol to myself during his first failed connect; realizing in what I can only describe as bullet-time that right there in front of me in mid-swing after hearing my complete honesty with him about the hypocrisy of their 'Christian' ways, was my dad being a serious hater trying to hit me in the face with a closed fist behind his best swing. Mom's intervention made him back down as quickly as it started. She's quite the shrieker, so it ended there even though dad was still yelling "get out of MY house" etc.
Although most of this is much more complex, it mainly stems from the fact that I dont come anywhere close to agreeing with his interpretation of Christianity and point out to him how anti-Christian his actions are every time he starts up with his whole 'witnessing for Jesus' bit. For example can you believe my own parents, the devout upstanding "we're automagically forgiven for the pride of being spiteful money-grubbing racist tools" until a few months ago didnt even know the real name of Jesus is Yeshua and were offended when I told them this info? :icon29:
Welllllllllllllllll anyway. I pretty much immediately split (to live another day). My dad is after all an ex-Vietnam chopper gunner and still highly-strung as a result(I'm also pretty sure he ran into Chuck Norris like 47 times altogether over there in 'Nam, possibly even provided some cover fire during a few of Chuck's famous documented prison breaks.)
...
I apparently gave the old man alot to chew on tonight. Either he heard me and comes around or I'm SO disownedI've already been told that I'm going to hell for not believing in Jesus (even though they had no clue through their hundreds of Southern Baptist church sermons and Sunday school teachings that Jesus isn't even His actual name)
lol, now let the Alabama redneck comments fly...consider this little corner of redneck 'heaven' my holiday gift to you. Cheers :icon32:
*no shit
So did everyone else also have a wonderful Christmas?

Not saying non-religious rule necessarily leads to communism. It just happens that commies find religion interferes with their totalitarian utopian goals.
