There you go, this guide used to fulfill my every BUILD-mapping need. It should be virtually the same for other BUILD-engine games like blood or shadow warrior.
But why would you want to map for BUILD anyway? ;)

you don't need the url tag, it parses automatically

Heh, I've never mapped before so I should start with something simple like BUILD.

Well, build isn't really that simple actually and besides, the technology used for build is way different from current technology.

Start with simple maps for current engines.

It would be easier for you to start with, Q3, HL(1), Q2... games like that.

once you learn how to map q1, you've learned how to map for them all

Pointless. Build's mapping system wasn't simple, it was just different.

Even the original doom's mapping system wasn't simple - the tools are comparitively clunky and the terminology is completely different.

Start on whatever game engine you actually want to develop for. Older is not simpler.

True...I found it somewhat helpfull to start with quake 2, go to doom 3, then here...but that took me a year and I still suck

don't worry. i've mapped for 12 years and i still suck donkey balls when it comes to map design.
