The intel switch isn't that bad... first you have to assume that all software devs are going to abandon their PPC boxes for intel boxes.. it's not going to happen. Plus, the Universal Binaries will enable those people who do switch to distribute PPC capable applications from their intel boxes.

I wouldn't buy a Mac now, but existing Macs aren't going to become doorstops either.

yea but it was said that windows 98 was done in 2001 and I used it well into 2002 before upgrading my PC to windows XP. If you use browsers like firefox that there is always updates for then you dont even really need the microsoft security updates since most of them are for security holes in Explorer. I dont care what Microsoft says because usually they will tell you that then they will keep providing updates anway because they just wanted to scare you into buying there new software.

Allot of people buy new computers these days get Home pre-installed, For instance my Mom got a laptop for christmas (I wonder who bought that) and it came pre-installed with XP home. Eventually I will upgrade her computer, prolly with vista. :)
