Tool fans...
Some people might remember me saying I didn't think much of Tool.
After having given their album Lateralus some serious play time I started liking their music, very much actually.
Recently I've given Aenima a chance as well and slowly I've become to like it as well. I don't think it's as good as Lateralus (too much nonsense in between the songs like the Ions track or that "message to harry manback" stuff), but there's some good songs on there and "Eier von Satan" and "Hooker with a penis" are a good laugh.
So, my question is that if I wanted to expand a little further into the Tool territory, should I go for Opiate, Undertow or try some Perfect Circle stuff?
Now that I remember, I still have Thirteenth Step lying around. Hmmm, what do you folks suggest I try?

If you're going backwards in time, their sound will drift further from Lateralus (duh), so be warned. I personally like Undertow better than Opiate, but if you're just interested in testing out the sound, Opiate will probably be cheaper (since it's an EP).
Personally, though, I'd highly recommend giving Salival a serious listening-to.

Ænima is my favourite as well. Despite the filler tracks which some people may not like, IMO the rest are so damn solid .. not a single song on there that I don't completely love. Lateralus was damn close too. They should be due for another album sometime over the coming if they stick to their regular schedule.

They don't HAVE a regular schedule anymore. Let's see:U4EA wrote:Ænima is my favourite as well. 1992
1993
1996
2001
Though, heh, I wonder if they're trying to make a pattern (knowing them it wouldn't surprise me). 1992 +1 = 1993. 1993 + 3 = 1996. 1996 + 5 = 2001.

Been thinking about this some more. If the pattern were to continue, the next cd would come out in 2008. Well,
difference between first cd and second: 1 year
1 + 1 = 2
difference between second and third: 2 + 1 = 3
difference between third and fourth: 3 + 2 = 5
5 + 3 = 8.. well, as projected in the previous pattern, 2008?
I know the pattern is inconsistent, but it's weird the little links that are in there. Also it screams fidonaci
Tool, fucking with our heads without even trying :icon19:
