What is currently a good laptop for $1k CAD?

If I were to buy a new laptop, what would be a good one for about $1000 CAD with an approx. 15" screen? What is currenly considered good in cpu, cpu speed, battery life, weight, size, etc?

1000 CAD = 855.31 USD

I own a 1998 Winbook laptop, doesn't work all that well anymore, but it has lasted longer then people's thinkpads and whatnot. So here is my vote, http://www.winbook.com/ they have some as $499 USD ($583.51 CAD) However I have no clue whether you can get them in Canada.

I'm pretty sure Dell has some good laptop deals. Prices are going down, it's a good time to take advantage of.
