Problem with webpages on certain computers

Post by o'dium »

My fiancee has her own website, located at http://www.fragglemays.com Its not important but she makes beads and other costume jewelry, most of which dont appear on the site but the pics are hosted online (on her server) as she sells her items on ebay.

Now this website works fine for me and everybody (except her) i know. All web pages load fine, all pictures load fine.

The problem is, randomly, on my fiancee's computer. Her computer is on a wireless network, i dunno if that may have anything to do with it. She can load certain things, but some pictures and so on refuse to load, as if they arn't even uploaded at all. Obviously, we have checked they are even there, reuploaded and done all sorts of things. The only way we have found that fixes it, is a hard restart of her wireless router.

Now the plot thickens. Its not her website or hosting, because sometimes, my forums wont show up on her computer either, she just gets "page not found" errors for some strange reason. She also gets the same problem if shes hosts her pics on my website, and those two are note connected in any way.

Heres an example page of one of her items:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1

Now when shes on her PC, pictures like this refuse to load, and instead just appear as nice red x's:

Its VERY strange, annoyingly strange, because other websites, these forums, google, ebay, hotmail etc, all work and load perfectly fine.

Like i said, only a hard restart of the router will fix it.

Anybody have any suggestions on what ot try or look for to see if we can get this fixed? Obviously its not MAJOR important because the major thing is OTHER PEOPLE can see the pics, not just her, but still, its annoying.

Thanks in advance.

If shes on a wireless computer it could be a problem with the nic being in power-saver mode. try disabling that.

It's rather obvious the router is the problem then, isn't it?

yea if you have an extra router laying around try hooking up through that and see if it works.

What browser is being used? Clear the cache and see if that works.
Though as Misantropia pointed out, all signs point to the router =P

Thanks for the suggestions, I thought it was the router but the problem with it only being certain places that mess up had me confused...?

And its all browsers.

Routers are fickle things. problematic ones can have issues with web servers which just happen to be configured in certain ways, resulting in problems like this.

A bit like: Some routers will crash when using emule because they can't handle so many connections being opened rapidly. Likewise it could be ducking out because the web server that site is hosted on is letting you open a seperate connection for each image simultaneously, or is responding very quickly.... something dumb like that.
