Pieces of shit, the cd drive sucks so much fucking balls. First it couldn't read my master levels for Doom 2 disc and now it can't read my fucking Quake 1 disc. Piece of shit, it could read my Quake 3 and Quake 2 cd. Why not Quake 1?

The CD is probably scratched or dirty.

Are you kidding me? The cd is like in mint condition, it works fine on other computers.

Try burning it on a new cdr. It might just have a problem with older cd's?

That's what I did with my master levels cd, I don't see why it couldn't read older discs because it could read my Quake 1 disc before perfectly fine. I did just restore windows xp but I doubt it has anything to do with it.

Cleaned the lense with one of those discs with the brushes on it.

EDIT: I tried putting a blank brand new cd-r in the drive, couldn't read it. I want to play Quake 1 using the cd audio so I would burn the mp3s onto a cd but I guess it can't read them

yerp, time for a new drive. not that uncommon for this to happen. unless this is a fairly brand new machine, i don't see what the big deal is.
