i would tap this, http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... Technology

but that is pricey :)

or there are these..

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php? ... TECHNOLOGY

remember, AMD64's are the Cpu's that REALLY! REALLLYY!!! Gain from timmings on ram.

btw, i forgot to mention, With the asrock's Stock bios's ( ~5 of them ) There are some limmitations when it comes to Volt's, and FSB...
but that shit is fixed with the ( atleast ) 60 Custom Bios's that people have made for that mobo... just a heads up :)

btwbtw, i am not saying go with the ram sticks that i just posted, but you get the idea when you look at the brand and the timmings... :)

Wait a tic, why are you running that cpu at 100mhz FSB?!?!?

How the hell could you have been running the comupter this long with only 1/2 of the cpu power???

What model CPU Do you have and i will post a guide on how to get the thing running at Full speed...

Do you recommend a BIOS for that board?
Also what do you think about the CPU I picked.
I'll probably get the second pair of ram you posted.

Dude, i would say first thing is first and get that computer running right before you go out and build another!

i am considering finding some way to smack you from across the internet.. Seriously.. that is sad man.. how wouldent you notice that a cpu that is rated for running 2.1 is running at 1.2ghz?!?!

Yeah I just changed it. I remeber one time I tried it at 200 and it didn't work. Then went my way down the list and the only one that would work was 100.
But now 166 is working so I'll run the specs now.

When I changed it, it said something about the CPU being set at the wrong speed. I worked my way down the list until something worked.

I'm going to install Q3 and do a timedemo of both speeds and see what the difference is.

What do you think about the ASUS A8V board?

i am not a fan of Via anymore... At all actually..

some people may disagree with me, but i would take a Nvidia/ULI Shipset over it.. ( Considering they are the same now :) )

i had to do a simular thing, i baught the MSI K8n-Neo2, that was the last AGP Based mobo out there, i dident have the cash to upgrade my 9800 :)

Btw, i am waiting on the test resaults, and you should have noticed a diffrence within windows with that ~900mhz Boost.

I'm just about to install Q3 and do a few timedemo's.

When I went to buy a new CPU, I gave them the name of the one I wanted. They said that they didn't have that one, but they had one that was slower.
And there I was thinking they were talking about slower Ghz, but he was actually talking about FSB. :(

Well with the config I used I went from about 142 to 223. So an 80 fps boost, but I think I can still get more out of the video card if I go with the new parts.

Well I'll probably save my money for now.
Since Toca 3 will be out shortly, I'll be spending most of my time playing that.
I might be buying my brother's digital camera from him so I'll make a decision when I get Toca and play for a week.

Even if I was to upgrade to a 64 bit, then I'm basically getting a low end 64 bit system I guess.
I'll probably end up waiting untill windows vista is out.
Probably buy that with some new parts, etc.

Good logic to wait until vista, you could probably also go dual core then, which will be a great benefit to the new OS. your current system will definatly hold out for a while yet

i know there is allways something new around the corner, but my thery is simple,

Why would anyone upgrade to a low end AMD64 system when they wouldent see that much of a boost from there current system, and that would infact limmit them in the future to upgrade the low end system that they built for that purpose?

persionally, i have been running aa 3200+ 939, on a MSI K8N-Neo2 plat, with a 9800 pro.. and i have been considering an upgrade... badly.. but that would only cut my self odd at the knees! i would need all new hardware anyway to get a new Videocard, and by that time the M2 will be out with DDR2 and will offer a Bigger jump.

yes, there is allways something around the corner, but there is also a window.. when a company like AMD is changing there socket that means that is going to stick for a wile, and if you buy something before that change, knowing full well that the newer socket is comming out... you just knowingly cut your self off from any big upgrades with future hardware.

so why not sit on your hands for a little bit, get the newer socket, build it low end if you like, then you have an option to upgrade the shiet a few months down the road without any restrictions!

Anyway, this is enough of my ranting :)

But if someone is having trouble buying a low end system now, how long do you think they'll have to wait to buy a PC that supports the new platform?

The ticket to buying PC parts is to buy a system that'll do what you need it to. Also getting the highest end stuff you can afford will keep you in the game longer.

i do agree, but a socket M2 platform is starting from the ground up, offerin as low as the *cough* 3200+ in the M2 flav..

So its not that much of a diffrence, and it would keep them in the game :)
