r_lightDetailLevel don't work

r_lightDetailLevel don't work

When I type r_lightDetailLevel 9 and then vid_restart id doesn't apply changes,backs to zero!It's in all mods and vanilla version.

You dont need to vid restart that command do you? :icon28:

I just use vertex.

no you dont need to vid restart.. it always takes effect immediately for me. However it will only work if the map your trying to view is designed to work with r_lightdetaillevel commands. By default, all lights in q4 are detail level 10, so if a mapper doesnt manually change the lights the an appropriate detail level, that command wont do any good.

Vertex is only available in q4max mod. To enable it type r_vertexlight 1.

The same functionality is available in X-Battle under the name r_ambientlightonly.
