V for Vendetta

Post by Transient »

7zark7 already made a thread about this some months ago (yes, I bothered to use the search function before making an old thread), but this movie deserves a bump of sorts. It's the Wachowski brothers' latest project, starring Hugo Weaving as Codename V and Natalie Portman as Evey. It's based on a 20-odd year old graphic novel, and from trailers, seems to be heavily influenced by 1984 type dystopian societies. The colors/imagery also hints at Naziesque references. Looks promizing IMO. :icon14:

Don't bother with the Superbowl trailer, just check out the other two (particularly the first).

I think I'll watch the movie first, then go pick up the book. :icon26:

I read the graphic novel a while ago and it was very good, as all Allan Moore's writing tends to be. Thing is, I watched the trailer and already noticed some things that just weren't there, or played out that way in the comic. So that leaves me interested to see what they'll be doing with this movie.

I don't know about natalie portman... we'll have to see how she works out.

Other than that, the rest looks like it's a new SinCity :D

I saw the trailer, was impressed, read the comic, was unimpressed.

I hope they do some major changes to the story/setting, or the movie will feel extremely 'old'.

so things made 20 years ago are now "extremely old". man you are in for some rude awakenings in a few years.

20 years is just the blink of an eye.

How is that picking apart the film? I didn't even bother to get into it because it doesn't matter that much to me, hence why I said I was interested to see what the movies going to be like.

Yes, from the movie trailer online I did. It's easier to pick up on the differences because the original content is from a comic.

What? That doesn't make any sense. You can't judge whether a movie is true to its source material form a 60 second clip.

I saw the commercial during the Stupid Bowl. It looks promising, much like a nine year old in short pants.

bumped

trailer did look a lot like 1984 done matrix-style, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. it would have been interesting if winston smith had gotten a payoff instead of being crushed

might go see it tonight
