Whatcha talking bout Willis? The patch is GREAT for me. FOV 115? hell yeah, simple items? hell yeah, no more buggy stair jumping? hell yeah. No more super loud MG sound? hell yeah. I'm just sayin'

You seem to of missed the part where you can no longer AIM at things...

Yeah, you are correct. But at least for me, the aim bug isn't really all that bad. Granted I don't play a lot of 1v1, just mostly spammy pubs. I'm just glad that q4 is being worked on.

This is a 'beta' patch -- which means they are making it open to the public for testing --- hence the term 'beta'. If you think it's performing badly, reinstall or backup your 'release' game next time and don't play the beta. The whole point of them publically releasing the beta is for testing by the masses. Sheesh, some people just complain no matter what is done. If this were a 'closed beta' you wouldn't have been able to download it -- der.

Anyhow ... I got a major FPS hit with the beta patch. Yes, I realize it's beta, hence I'm reporting the issue.

I got a FPS boost with my crappy comp. g_simpleitems 1 helped a LOT, it is still not vertexlighting but hell, it is much better that what I had before.

If id or Raven is reading this ...

Feature Request:

Please make it so the admin can set temp GUID bans when a person is vote kicked from a server.

Example:

Loser is playing and fellow players kick him off. Normally he can just return. But if there was an option where the admin can set a time for the GUID to be banned for x amount of time, Loser won't be able to return to the server for that long.

Something like:

g_votekickban 60

So if Loser is kicked from the server, via a vote by other players, he/she will be banned from the server for 60 minutes.

Would said loser be me? I'm just asking because I have never been kicked before and I need something to look forward to.

Hi Jenny!

Seriouslly, I mostly play on one server and I know the admin. He is not currently running "teh patch". Couple of quick questions:

1. Is there a way to disable the DMG/ items on maps? Is this fixed with "teh patch"?.

2. Is there some sortof voicechat logging? I know that this is a stretch, but when some assbag is constantly saying nasty nasty crap, it shold be logged and banable.....

Also, how/ where do you lookup guid's

1. No, thats something you'd probably need a mod for like q4max

2. I don't think so, but you can hit esc and mute players.

Did a reinstall and no more lock-ups and smooth FPS.

I had that bug with Q3A once, odd. I've only gotten that same bug when testing my map launching Q3A from QuArK, and the brightness is fucked up then too, so it could be a directinput and focus related bug.

I think there is something wrong with the Sound Blaster X-Fi hardware and/or drivers. No matter how much I tweak it, the Sound Blaster X-Fi will drop the FPS down to almost 30 in fights and the sound quality is often scratchy and unusual. I thought it was due to my own incompetence but as I google'd I'm finding this problem is quite common with other games, motherboards, and combinations of systems with the Sound Blaster X-Fi.

In contract, my little Logitech USB headset (with it's own built in sound card) sounds far better and there are no FPS drops. :icon27:

So if you get bad sound from your sound card or onboard audio, this little headset does quite a good job:

The more i read about Q4, the more i realize the game is a wreck. Raven suddenly beginning to listen and respond to community feedback seems like a last ditch effort to make the game slightly less unplayable. :( I really want to be proved wrong here, but when i read things like this:

I've posted this before recently.

The rockets CANNOT be sped up without having majorly adverse effects on low end machines. I'm talking about things like rockets flying THROUGH enemies bodies instead of hitting them.
And comments like this:
hahah, sometimes I wish some people realised what an insane and unfixable mess the Q4 MP is. If you look at the code, there is absolutely, virtually, NOTHING that works right. What you're asking for is a complete rewrite. If they do, here is where they should start fixing:
1. Datastructures (lol @ idList, idStr, etc)
2. def files (do not need this stupid flexibility when you can make a mod, slows things down considerebly, even with caching, because accessed way to much)
3. Gosh, I donno, not using only C coding practices in C++?!? (not they they should have switched to that abonimation of a language in the first place)
4. Everything else.
Please prove me wrong Raven. :S

Hi guys,

Just to be sure on one thing, before the 1.1 point release (version 1.0.4) the Q4 server browser was shown around 1300/1400 servers, but now with the 1.1 beta release, it only shown 75/80 servers...

Is it possible that the server browser ping only the server upgraded to the 1.1 beta patch ?

Yeah, when you update the game you can only see and join 1.1 beta servers.

Hrm.

Not wanting to give up on this SoundBlaster X-Fi, I uninstalled the drivers. Used Reg Supreme Pro (http://www.macecraft.com), reinstalled drivers, reinstalled latest official update (from Creative). Everything is smooth and sounds terrific. Now I am getting better FPS with OpenAl enabled.

So my recommendation -- maybe this will help someone who has the card and has had similar issues - is to run a registery cleaner before installing the card.

Just FYI, redirect IS now working as I've tested it on our server. I'll be adding all the custom maps to our server soon.
