Post by Absolut »

Been having this discussion here at work for the last couple weeks. Do you believe in evolution or pro creation? I know where I stand, what's your thoughts?

I don't "believe" in evolution. I understand it to have happened. Evolution has occured and continues to happen. To dispute that is some combination of ignorance and stupidity.

Well, I couldn't agree more, but I happen to work with some morons (yes, I want them to see this). I believe in evolution but I happen to work with alot of close minded people (die hard Catholics). Was wanting some support/ammo against them :icon31:

Point them to the statements from the Pope that evolution is a valid scientific theory, etc. etc. etc. That and the big bang as well.

google Pope John Paul II's address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences

I believe in God and evolution. Don't see why one has to exlude the other.

God might exist, but any religion is absolutely nuts. Who can follow a book like the koran or the bible when the policy of a religion clearly changes when it's leader changes. Evolution at least has some basis, it might not be complete but it has solid ground to stand on.

I honestly believe that people (in general) expect too much from religion.

They use it as an excuse to murder, take money and exclude others while holding themselves out as being superior. Meanwhile, many honest people see what's being done "in the name of God" and are so turned off that they dismiss everything. Yes, they end up throwing away all the bad...but they also throw out anything good that could have ever come from it.

I believe God is so much more then any one relgion, concept or person can comprehend that all you can do is try.

I understand that politics and religion are two things that will be debated till the end of time......It's just hard for me to believe in something just because someone says it's so. To have blind faith. I was told, as far back as I can remember, to vote democrat. I was smart enough to make my own decision based on my own experience, but that was how I was brought up. It's scary to think of how many people that were brought up the same way......and weren't smart enough to make that decision for themselves. Same goes for religion, Is there a God? I'm like the people of Missouri.....show me
