David Lynch

Too bad the rest of the books suck, Frank Herbert only had one good story in him, and that was Dune, the rest is shitty unfocused filler

Would have thought you'd be more into something like Brokeback Mountain.
Apparently the forum resident fountain of tears Nightshade resigned from his prestigious role as rants and raves moderator because he wouldn't have time to moderate or post anymore due to devoting himself to his 'old man at university' studies.

As much as he tried, yet again he wasn't able to stay away. Sorry that didn't work out for you Nightshade. :olo:

The book was a fine piece of work, I will say that. Maybe i'll rent the movie this weekend to see what you gaping shit-apes are simmering about.

no fuck u....

the quality drops off a bit in the last two books, heretics and chapterhouse, mostly because they're less focussed and because the bene gesserit don't make such interesting characters (because they're too much like vulcans)

if you want real shit, try brian herbert and kevin anderson's butlerian jihad, machine crusade etc. they really *are* shit

BADUM-TISH!!

btw speaking of dune - has anyone seen the alan smithee version? i just acquired it to see what's what and it's just a mangled version of the lynch movie with some extra scenes/dialogue and a cheesy prologue with an annoying voiceover

I prefer the sci-fi channel's 5 hour rendition http://imdb.com/title/tt0142032/.

hmmmm.... it was closer to the book, but lacked the style of the lynch movie, was poorly designed, and some of the casting decisions were dubious to say the least, especially jessica, hawat, yueh, gurney, duke leto, stilgar... erm.... pretty much everyone except paul and chani (whose name they kept mispronouncing)

children of dune on the other hand was very good...

only saw a bit of that tv series thing, and it was some of the worst tv i've ever fucking seen. that feckless arsehole playing gurney halleck was the acting equivalent of in-flight cutlery.
