xbox(360) <=> PC

Post by Plan B »

Is it possible to join xbox(360) live-servers on your PC (without actually having an xbox) and vice versa?

I read some stuff about XBConnect, but I think that only routes your xbox through your PC's internet connection.

I remember being able to join Dreamcast servers running Q3 on a PC, and was wondering if the same applies to xbox live.

Ah, ok. Shame, but thought as much.

And I didn't really have specific titles in mind.
Just cross-platform stuff.

Ghost Recon looks might tasty, but that isn't out yet for PC.

Maybe time to buy a console again, anyway.

I guess if anyone would do cross-platform, it would be MS as they own both spectrums, but yeah, it's prolly a lot more complicated now that it was just simple tcpip with the dreamcast, I mean you would have to get some kinda live compatibility on the pc.

Well, you may be outcasting yourself into a gamingworld of yesteryear then, because SF seems to be an anti-warez-system that actually works.

Let's just say it's the highest anti-warez-threshold right now, which 1337-h@xxor0rZ, like yourself, can surpass, but which I cannot.

It's not always easy to bypass. It works for some games but for most it dosen't work that well, for most people. The average user, that dosen't know a thing about it, would not be able to bypass it.

I'm sure SF4 will take at least a few months to a year to fully bypass.

It's an endless cat and mouse chase. When new ways to bypass it are found, they will just issue a quick patch to fix those methods. Rinse repeat.

And the developers of these anti-cracking techniques are only shortening the gap. Just a year ago, it wasn't as easy to get most games to run as it is today (and not just sf, it's also securerom, etc.)

Of course one might think that there's always a way to get around software protection, but the key is if it's worthwile in the long run. If it takes months or years to crack than maybe not. Ubi was succesful in protecting Splinter Cell 3 that way. In the critical 2 weeks sales period, heck for the next months, they sold well because the game was almost uncrackable (the first real sf3 game that was tough to break). It was finally sort of broken, but that was months later.

Yeah, well.

If bypassing a security system actually involves unplugging cables, I'm out.

i'm not that much of a fucking bum.

Hats off to StarForce for that.

It's also the most intrusive one, and the one that cause most hardware problems for people. I don't like stealth drivers being installed on my computer, so I simply don't support games who use it by buying them.

Used to work..

SF can be tricked with software.. :icon29:

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

How can you tell if a game has StarForce on it?

actually, when the devs of Galactic Civs2 removed the check in their latest update, starforce posted a torrent link to the full game on their site. to convey the message "see without us your shit will get warezed".
fucking idiots should be reprimanded with a huge fine and shut down i tell you

Star Force? Fucking hell thats still not banned? Its an invasion of privacy is what it is... Now that it matters, you can piss easily just download the game and run it still anyway, so who the fuck cares. I just see it as a pain in the arse to honest people who buy honest games...
