I'm using the logitech mx300 with the Mouseware drivers it came with. I have acceleration set to "none" but in games I still notice a fair amount of accel at work.
I'd never really looked into gaming completely free of accel, but now is the time, and I really want to do it. Sooo, yeah, is there a way to completely disable accel in XP?
Completely disabling mouse accel in XP
There are mouse settings in this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse
But I couldn't tell you what each one does exactly. I'm pretty sure if you set "MouseThreshold1" and "MouseThreshold2" to a value of "0", there should be no acceleration. And I think "MouseSpeed" is the actual speed (the normal one in control panel).
I would Google it first because I could be wrong about this. I know there is a .reg file floating around the internet somewhere that does it for you (Logitech only). I've used it before. And it works. That's how I know some of this.

Ah, with the power of Google I think I found the answer.

mouse fix (also in the thread link): ftp://ftp.thecpl.com/mouse_fix.zip
Hope it helps.

1. Click Start button
2. Select Run
3. Type 'regedit' in the open textbox
4. Open the tree 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER', select control panel, then select mouse
5. Right clicking, modify the SmoothMouseXCurve and SmoothMouseYCurve hexidecimal values to the following:
SmoothMouseXCurve:
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
00,a0,00,00,00,00,00,00
00,40,01,00,00,00,00,00
00,80,02,00,00,00,00,00
00,00,05,00,00,00,00,00
SmoothMouseYCurve:
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
66,a6,02,00,00,00,00,00
cd,4c,05,00,00,00,00,00
a0,99,0a,00,00,00,00,00
38,33,15,00,00,00,00,00
If done correctly, you will notice you are holding a markedly more responsive mouse.
