shitty router alert?
So I have this Netgear router, the WGT624. All works fine usually for about 2-3 days, and then I start getting problems with my laptop's wireless connection. It will either continuously disconnect me, lower the connection speed (from 11 mbps to 5.5 to 2 to 1), or simply not let me connect to the internet at all. Power cycling both the modem and the router will fix the problem for 5 minutes, but I've found what I have to do is re-establish the wireless network with slightly different settings than before. Then it goes back to "working" temporarily. Any ideas?

I checked the netgear forums about information on the latest firmware, apparently there's a firmware upgrade that irreversibly destroys your router, which netgear keeps available. And also, apparently even using wireless with this piece of shit router causes it to restart, moreso if you use WAP, but still if you use WEP. So I guess I answered my own question, that NETGEAR produces fucking garbage and releases firmware upgrades that knowingly destroys their hardware. :icon14:

some DLink routers from my experience have the same ill mannered behavior. the only decent brand router, imo, is the Linksys line. WRT54G in particular
