Blargg! I forgot to ask. What's a good 120hz monitor? I have a monitor with a max of 60 at 1280 1024, so it looks pretty ugly, regardless of what I'm playing.
I'm not really up on how LCDs work, but they don't have quite the same behaviour as a CRT (regular) monitor... they don't 'refresh' in the same way.
For example, I have an LCD advertised as 8ms response (apparently there's a good chance it's actually 16ms and higher = worse) and while it feels more responsive compared to a regular monitor running at 60Hz, it's nowhere near as responsive as a CRT running at 120Hz.
Additionally, the colours on a fresh/decent CRT always look more vibrant than on any LCD I've seen... although that tehds to wear off over time.
So in summary - if you're obsessed over tweaking the hell out of quake and play for the competition, you may find a CRT capable of 120Hz is your best option. On the other hand for anything other than that minority, LCDs are probably a better choice.
