Internet Connection Woes

I have an ADSL connection connected to a Microsoft MN-500 Wireless Router. The other day I downloaded Fedora Core 5 via BitTorrent using Azureus. Now usually after using BotTorrent my router logs show certain blocked messages because some people are still trying to connect, however this has little bearing on my connection. Yesterday and today though my DSL has been down to a trickle. Yesterday I reset the modem, router, released all IPs, checked, and cleaned up, my firewall. For the rest of the day my internet was back up to speed, but today it has dipped back down and come up a few times. I have left a message at my ISP asking if there is a DSLAM down or anything because of snow, which has affected my connection before. To give a good demonstration, PC Pitstop has a bandwidth download test, to which I usually score 1067-1500 KBps, a respectable number for DSL. Yesterday I scored 101 KBps, today I ran it a few times ranging for 76, 44 and 11 KBps. This is what my router log looks like 3 minutes after turning the modem on, it was also after a reset of the router, so it is looking for a time server.

Is there anything you guys know that will stop this? This will be especially bad if it continues till next Saturday as I have a Halo party planned and while not too much X-Box Live will go on, I know some of my dial-up using friends (read Kaziganthe) will want my bandwidth.

Also the Activity light on my modem is blinking steadily, whether any computers are on or not or if I'm downloading or not. It isn't blinking fast, kind of lazily on, off, and I'm willing to bet that is connected to the issue somehow.

wep key problem

So this could be caused by my Fedora Core 5 install, something like an auto update? Right now my connection is going fine, but I am waiting till tomorrow afternoon as it seems to really like afternoon to fuck up. There are currently only two wireless devices connected, my computer, and a ethernet to 802.11B converter, both are on the same computer, the converter is for Fedora, but I will most likely use it in Windows when I do a reinstall in a few weeks. Overall the router has been excellent, no real downtime and the firewall is awesome, I am really hoping that there is no router problem here.

6881 is a bittorrent port, so those are prolly the few BT users that still have me in the swarm. Like I said right now the internet is going well, if it slows down again tomorrow I'll see if any new ports pop up

I read it and it does not sound like the same issue as me. I will look into more tomorrow, espcially if the problem comes back. I had run across both links you gave me during a google search, so far nothing has been of great help. The thing that leads me to believe that the router isn't the issue, but I will look into it, is that even when i unplug my modem from the router its Activity light is still steadily blinking.

The problem has seemed to gone away, maybe just that after BT sluggishness, doesn't explain the other ports though. Anywho, is your comment to my router as a compliment, a suggested softward, or what you used to get that information on the prts?
