OpenGL Problem...!

Post by kane_666 »

hey this is my first time posting here, so hey!

well i have an opengl problem. my graphics card is an intel810 (4mb video memory, supports opengl) i've downloaded the latest drivers, updated directx. the intel website says my card will support the game quake 3.

well after setting all that up, the game didn't work :) error in the consol was something like, calling library "c:\winnt\system32\opengl32.dll" failed.

so i downloaded SciTech's GLDirect. There were 2 rendering options: Hardware and Software. the hardware uses direct32 acceleration, and software uses emulation. i had to use emulation (which runs the game, but its lagy, blury, and all around crap. but when i try to use the hardware option (which is recommended) i get an error:

---------------------------
Quake 3: Arena: quake3.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x1010c447" referenced memory at "0x01488000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

---------------------------
Quake 3: Arena: quake3.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x77fc9def" referenced memory at "0x66400178". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program

any ideas?

I'm quite positive your video card has too little memory to run Q3A. The absolute minimum is 8 MB, IIRC.

Nope.. Upgrade
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

You should be able to pick up a PCI graphics card, plug it into the PC, then disable the onboard graphics via the BIOS.

By now, a card like that should cost a trivial amount... like $15 from a mom&pop PC store.

Actually the card doesn't really have 4mb, it just uses system memory. I've ran Q3A on one of those 4mb cards before.

Try AltoGL.
