I usuaully average at 50-90 (the highest) ping. It's not like I'm in a New Zealand server or anything like that. I'm in a server where I know I always ping atleast decent 50-60ish. I don't have timenudge on or any cmds that will rise my ping.
I have uninstalled the game twice now. I have no current .cfg's running. I have nothing running when I play the game because I know that can slow you down (well it does if you have a slow poke computer like mine).
I am updated with punkbuster and I have patch 1.32
And when I scan the Master server, all the pings are normal, so it's not like it's my internet showing 500ms per server. The server I play in shows (as I type this) 40ms but when I go in to play I go from 128 to 240 to 390 to 458 to 500 and sometimes even 600.
This is making me angry. Can someone help please?
My ping is at 400-500!!!
These are considered "standard" settings for broadband users:
If you experience spikey pings, try reducing your cl_maxPackets to 100, 60, or 30.
In all likelihood your ping problems are probably related to your ISP. You can try complaining as menket as said but I'm not sure they can or would be willing to do much to fix it. Do you have any other multiplayer games installed? How are your pings in those games? Are you using the All-Seeing Eye server browser (which can allow you to more easily find low pinging servers -- the ingame browser blows)? Perhaps your routing to that particular server has gone to shite. try some other servers and see if you're having the same high pings across a multitude of servers.
Code: Select all
seta rate "25000"
seta snaps "40"
seta cl_maxPackets "125"
seta cl_packetdup "1"
seta cl_timeNudge "-12"
seta cl_allowDownload "0"
seta cg_smoothClients "0"

I use the in-game browser. I know it's not the server because they're all displayed their normal ping, which is low. Unfortuantly I don't have any other multi-player PC game to test to see that it might be quake3 but I know it's not. Everyone in the server I goto have their normal 30-60ish ping, but not me, I am sky rocket from 125 to 400 in a hurry.Cooldown wrote:These are considered "standard" settings for broadband users:

set it to 125 - playing with 30 handicaps your aim. Your aim is basically being sampled only 30 times a second.Just another player wrote:

You'll notice ur scoreboard ping increases when u raise ur maxpackets - however this is just an illusion - real ping remains the same. High maxpackets simply masks ur real ping.
