Well anyways, maybe I'm just trying to vent and the fact that I'm not used to playing people that have no balls and rely strictly on railing on 5v5/10v10 ra3 games. I swear, sometimes you spawn, and you get dinked with those rails from a mile away and you die in 2 secs. :E
Julz, let's say you and me do a few rounds
Personally I prefer osp/cpma clan arena. I wont deny that the skill base is considerably higher in ra3 than in ca, but it's certainly easier to die in the former. Sometimes you die with 2 rocket shots in ra3 (I swear, I did
), and 3 rails can finish you off easily, while in ca it usually takes 4. It seems the sg can kill you in 2 as well in ra3.

@Julios:
Sure, the entire subset of duel skills that's required to kill your opponent before he kills you in a faceoff, and a bit more. It's the simplicity of the arenas and the subsequent repetitivity of the battles that bores me to death (which was why i can't keep myself from responding to people telling how great RA/CA is
).

Well, there are these crazy Germans on CPMA CA/DA that play (/ used to play) ra3map1 all day and they rail you almost every single round immediately after the countdown and shaft you to death if they're close enough. In OSP CTF pub servers there are plenty of people that play Spider Crossings just for rail target practice too though. Same kind of shit.dzjepp wrote:I swear, sometimes you spawn, and you get dinked with those rails from a mile away and you die in 2 secs. :E

eh? u can survive 3 rails? each rail takes off 100 hitpoints.dzjepp wrote:Personally I prefer osp/cpma clan arena. and sg takes off 110 if all the pellets hit.
Not sure what you're getting at here
yea i rarely play CA - for one thing my system can't handle it as well as 1on1 - but i like the minimalism of 1on1 combat. I can play ts for hours a day and not get bored, so long as it's with skilled opponents.Well anyways, maybe I'm just trying to vent and the fact that I'm not used to playing people that have no balls and rely strictly on railing on 5v5/10v10 ra3 games. I don't really blame the person, after almost 6 and a half years of play most everyone that still plays this is very good and likes to show off that skill, be in 1v1 or ra3.
Man, but if there was ever a magnet for turning newbies away from a game, it would be q3. I constantly see new faces do the /quit thang just mere moments after getting a proper beatdown. Anyone new that actualy double-clicks the quake3.exe at this point in the game is a brave soul in my book.
I did prefer the community of yesteryear more than the people that play today though. There are way to many shit talkers and ego-trips these days. :< Sure wasn't what it used to be. And they used to say that the quake community was the most friendly/knowlegeable community in the fps genre.

Luckily i have no trouble avoiding servers with shit talkers/lamers in CPMa and Freeze Tag (Euro servers). In baseq3 ctf there's a strong tendency of winjoining though. I'll never understand those supposedly experienced clan people that stick together in the same team in pub servers, to crush the other team entirely, giving them no challenge at all.

wait like 20 secs and then link will be at bottom of the page.
btw, i just realised today that i've not been playing q3 (or q4 now) in stereo for probably the better part of a year plus!! i have a Y splitter to run my speakers and headphones thru one out so i dont have to reach around and switch between each and it's mono. ROFL! wonder if that will screw my game up at all.
