I'm in the process of updating my Gentoo server (which I've been slacking on) and it's been SO easy with few complications. I'm re-compiling my kernel now from the latest GCC (approved).
What prompted all of this is I want to set up a VMWARE Server on that box so I can install a VMWindows server and create a domain at home running a few virtual servers.

Never used the live CD. I was just stating that once configured and up and running, Gentoo is the best distro I've worked with. Plus, the fact that you have to make everything from scratch (it's all well documented in their docs), it could really improve a novice linux user's game.

Ran into a few snags with apache2 and the new way php is implemented. Got it all sorted though.

raw, you mentioned apache2... are you using your own ssl certs, and if so, do you have any issues with run order and apache-https? I'm growing tired of debian's shit, so I might be switching as well.

k--well otherwise, you're happy with it, then? Might give it a try, sounds like a pretty slick setup. :iconthumb:

Oh yeah man. I really like my Gentoo. I even sealed the deal as a Linux geek and bought a Gentoo mousepad. I've never done that before in my life. )
