I'm looking for a database (or maybe even a flat text file) containing all the words from the english dictionary. I'd like to have something like that but couldn't be arsed to type over the entire english dictionary (would take 3 life times).
Now there must be some freely downloadable database or something right? And even if it isn't free and you know about it, let me know. Even if you can be arsed to type over the entire dictionary and finish it before the end of the week, let me know
Thanks for the help, but those dictionary files are in somekind of proprietary .ev format, which won't do me good. I can find piles upon piles of free translators or dictionary applications, but what I want is not an application that works as dictionary, but just a list of words from the dictionary so I could, for instance, write my own dictionary software (or, what I'm really wanting to use it for, writing language games like literati (scrabble) or something)
Just download a brute-force program. They usually come with a text file with (almost) every word in the dictionary in it, seperated by carriage returns.
