creating a server?
yeah so im new at the whole quake 3 arena deal and i was just wondering if this hasn't already been posted, how can you create your own server for the public to access over the internet? i know it isn't like doom 3 where you can create your own server and have people search for it and join in. please help me on this issue, and does it cost anything to make one?

making server
Open quake and go to multiplayer, then click on create. Then you can set it up from there. But if you have a crappy connection it will not be good.
Servers can cost mony if you rent them...

It is like that! You can easily make an internet server and people will just join sometimes without inviting them. You just need a proper server browser to find other games. Others will easily find your server that way.Who128 wrote:i know it isn't like doom 3 where you can create your own server and have people search for it and join in.
You can read how to do all this and what programs to use in the sticky post. Read them, people put time and effort in them to answer questions like yours! :icon29:

Download the Freezetag mod, install it, choose the mod from the mod menu and start up a game. It's better to start a dedicated though. You can make a shortcut or batchfile with the command: quake3.exe +set fs_game freeze +set dedicated 2
In the server console, load the server config to enable the grappling hook and other settings and load up a map. Anyone can find and join your server now.
