q3 for cpl petition.

Post by Robcq »

http://forums.thecpl.com/cgi-bin/ultima ... 192#000004

I have started a petition to bring q3 back to cpl. I understand that this site caters moslty to the casual(non pro) q3 player, but as a specator, or even a player, would you want to see q3 return to cpl?

If you think q3 would be the better game on every aspect then please voice your opinion.

thank you

So who is exactly going to sponsor a tourney like that? What hardware retailer is going to support a game that is 7 years old?

do you think they need sponsoring when the parts are so cheap? you don't need a first class system for q3 ey.

plus, they could also get sponsering from budget systems or something. or maybe advertisement from a whole other company that has nothing to do with pchardware, as long as they get enough attention in the media etc.

Wow, seven posters signed up already... I doubt it will ever happen, when was the last time an online petition worked?

Well I mean sponsorships for the prize/purse giveaways. Games like cs 1.6 still work with the cpl because they have a massive player base. Besides aren't all the old q3 pros either playing something else or not playing at all.

But I suppose there would be a good group of people that would sign up for this thing, I wouldn't mind seeing it myself.

Well I gotta admit, after reading the thread @ cpl, the people present very appealing and interesting points about q3. I throw my whining away, yes bring back q3 damnit! :)

q3 is an excellent medium for advanced deathmatch.

And advanced deathmatch is an excellent medium for competition.

And competition is a so-so medium on which to base a profession.

How can any sporting event survive when the sports played change every year?

That's what pro gaming relies on actually. For the cpl to present prize purses they need guys like nvidia/intel/etc. to jump in, and since newer games require newer hardware it's a good combination from a sales perspective. Again there are exceptions sometimes, like with cs. That prolly has to do with the community being 20,000 strong or whatever it is and them being very vocal about having their game supported.

then the games themselves would be advertisements. whatchu need is a game that doesn't change (rule-wise) and has ALOT of people watching (and maybe also paying to watch or something) just like all other pro sports.
