hills have eyes 2006 6/10

minus points for casting robert joy, overdoing the darkness and the way the dad reacts when he first gets into trouble (why bother setting the character up as a hardened cop when he turns into a nancy the moment he gets spooked?) - otherwise really good :icon14:

Great story good effects Theron was excellent

Are you familiar with the animated series?

For me, it felt like such a let down in comparison.

All the grotesqueness and general weirdness that I liked in the animated series was completely gone.

Such a waste converting it into a straightforward action flick.

Big Fish - 8/10
Really good stuff. Looked good, ace music, nice story. I really liked it. It would've gotten a higher score if it wasn't so open ended, but I guess that's kind of the point.

Tried watching Cats with the gf the other day. We stopped before the first song was over, after they introduced David Bowie Cat.
What the fucking meow mix is going on in that movie? :dork:

The Great Race - 6/10
Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtic, Natalie Wood, Peter Falk.
Good goofy fun. Too many stupid characters make it a bit annoying though. (i.e. the "liberated woman" who demands a man walk her to the train, and stupid Tony Curtis and his bad acting.)

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - 9/10
Ace. If it wasn't for a couple bits of hammy acting and Alan Ford's poor voiceover, I'd give it a 10. :icon14:

King Kong - 8/10

Great movie, unfortunately it suffers from a few unnecessary and way too long chase scenes, which means that it could easily have been at least half an hour (perhaps even an hour) shorter. But great pathos and nice visuals makes it a quality movie.

Silent Hill - 7/10

eh, it's a movie based off a video game, obviously you don't expect too much going in. It feels like the game, but it's not as scary I'd heard it hyped up to be. There were a few wtf and intense scenes (don't want to spoil), but other than a really good 5 min scene here and there, I didn't find it that scary. I was honestly hoping it would be the first horror movie in awhile that really scared me or kept me from sleeping, but only because I kept hearing SH fanboys saying that happened to them.

Pretty cool movie none the less, I heard a lot of people bitching about the ending as they were walking out though. But a lot of people don't know about the SH games.

Could have used some more Pyramid Head.

Silent Hill - 5/10

I basically agree with ctrlnuke's take on it - except, seriously, there weren't any bits that scared me. I was expecting a little more of the classic scare and a little less gore. Gore does nothing.

Dissapointed.

Thanks for the link since watching the movie and "Plan B's" comment I've been looking for the animated :)

Mulholland Drive 8/10

I'm going to watch it at least 3 more times before I'll give it any higher. Lynch owns. I might upgrade it to a 9 or 10 after I watch it some more. :icon14:

Chopper 6/10

Had some funny bits here and there, but it didn't really manage to capture my attention.

King Kong 7/10

Spectacular as expected, but geez, way too long. Minus points for that.

The directions that Rose memorizes in the Hospital are the same as the Konami Code.

It's not the konami code though. She doesn't say "up" or "down" at all. When she started I thought it was the code too, but it's not.
