When that porsche is fast, but really, really poor at driving, the question becomes none existent.

When that porsche breaks down and never works again if you crash it ever so slightly, the question becomes none existent.

Lets face it, get the old handheld check list out:

(*) Does product provide fun that can be had in any time frame, be it 1min or 1 hour?

(*) Does product have enough battery life to warrent actually taking it out of the house, playing with friends etc?

(*) Is product able to withstand many many bumpos and drops, like for example, the average every day use of a handheld?

(*) Is product fast at loading, so that you can actually turn the game on and withen seconds be playing?

Lets face it, PSP fails at all above points.
Are you retarded? Let's go through your "points"

*I like the games I have for it so far and I'm looking forward to other games. I love racing games and have pretty much everyone of them for the PSP. good enough for me, but there's plenty of other titles too. I don't have a problem with the ammount of choices plus if I get bored I can listen to music or watch a movie. Or hell I can even go ONLINE you fucking spastic fanboy.

*I work 8 hours a day, I don't bring my charger to work, I play on that PSP most of the day.

*Surprisingly yes, I thought like you did but I've dropped it enough times now to vouch for the product myself, it's solid. I haven't dropped it on anything like a cement floor or tiled floor and wouldn't want to but so far so good.

*It's so well built in regards to loading I can't tell you how much I like it. In midplay you can litteraly shut it off and it'll load up exactly where you left it, whether you're loading something, in the middle of a jump a movie sequence ANYTHING, it can instantly be turned off and comes on instantly where you left it. Some games, do have a small pause of maybe 2 to 3 seconds before they begin playing which really only lets you situate yourself.

Overall, every point you said are some of the better things ABOUT the PSP. the only issue I could say I have with it is that it seems to lack a large variety of titles but I see the PSP as still being relatively new in the handheld market so I don't find it's a big deal but seriously dude, I OWN a Gamecube and I'm not some fanatical fanboy, the PSP is a good handheld console, offers a lot and is a lot of fun. Plus it doesn't look ghey when you pull it out.

In terms of being a good portable, both the DS and the PSP completely fail compared to the GBA:SP.

They're both too big, mainly.

The DS fits in my pocket easily and it's screens are quite well protected because it folds up.

Whatever. They're both notably bigger than the GBASP.

Carrying a brick around was fine in the early 90s with the gameboy. They made the gameboy pocket and colour smaller for a reason.

Try the DS lite. It's smaller. The DS is a tad big yes but I dunno, it never stopped me from carrying it around. Besides, most of the time I have my backpack with me so I just put it in there.

It's getting there. They'll have probably nailed it by the time they bring out a third format for the casing.

Bizarrely the GBA's third format is rubbish - they turned away from the clamshell design which is, I think, pretty essential.

hey whats the difference from a DS to a DSLite ?

I know the lite is obviously smaller, but is the screen smaller or just the case is trimmed down.

Screen is the same size only using a much MUCH better backlight, its much more like the PSP screen in terms of quality, only still the same size.

The actualy size is smaller, thinner and lighter, plus a hell of a lot sexier.

And it has a bigger stylus.

Thats about it, plays the same games. But i cant wait to get one. The US release data is may or june i think, so ill order one from US to UK as soon as i can :D I wotn order a japanese one though, i just dont want to for some reason lol.

In other words, the DS Lite is pure sex, even nicer looking than Jesus's thong.

Its nothing like that in real life though, its BETTER.

The DS lite has multiple screen brightnesses, and guess what? In a dark room its perfectly playable at the LOWEST, and still looks better than the original DS. Oh and its 16hours battery life then, too.

Eat that, GTA:LCS+PSP with your hour and a half :olo:

Fury has been nagging at me to get one, but I don't really have a need for handheld systems. But between the improvements of the Lite, plus the new Mario game, I'm getting one within a month or so.

Good lad.

Its only another week before we see more media on it, as well as the new mario game on Wii.

I just hope to fucking god its not like Mario Sunshine... Imagine that...

"Super Mario Wii! Now you can control the water pistol with the Wii Wand!"

Oh. Great...

Sunshine was a letdown after the awesomness that was Super Mario 64. That reminds me, there's a DS version of that which I'll probably pick up. :)

Aye. As hard as it is to belive the DS version is BETTER. 30 odd more stars to collect and 50 odd minigames... Its pure joy.

To be honest though, watching the DS screen in a dark room was the least of my worries. When the sun is blazing up in the sky pouring sunshine rays all over the screen, that's the moment you're worrying about visibility.

Got both and definitely PSP IMO. There are some grand games for PSP; current favourites are Daxter and Gripshift for me. Brilliant :icon14:

Then again, if you're into the old school Japanese RPGs, virtual pets, and other more 'family' oriented games then DS. They're just not my bag, and the graphics on the PSP rock, and are getting better as people learn the pipeline.

Sounds a bit biased to me IMO. What exactly do you mean with 'family' oriented? Do I sense a "nintendo is kiddy" type of thing there?

*shrug* If you do that's fine by me. You can infer what you like from my post, but I'm not going to generalise that far myself, because I don't actually hold that opinion. Don't let that stop you though!

The trick is to look at the catalogue and make a choice based on the games you're more inclined to play, and the DS catalogue has a definite leaning towards certain genres and styles of design and gameplay, while the PSP emphasis is in a different direction. For example, check out the IGN sections for each platform. Your own biases will help you make the decision pretty smartly based on the titles available for each.
