Since none of us can agree on a banner it seems logical to hold a contest and let the audience decide which way to go. So here it is, our banner contest.
Some things to keep in mind when participating:
It has to fit with this theme [doh!]
The banner will be centered. Meaning there will be space left on the sides we can use to resize when the page is displayed in different resolutions.
It should have a grey background, what kind of grey is up to you.
It should say: LD.NL, Connecting Creativity. Doesn't have to be next to eachother.
The images you use should refer to what where about. Think of characters out of the games we cover. Or stuff referring to modeling, mapping, modding, etc.
That's it. I recommand all contestants to take a look at this thread. No prizes, but the winner his work will be our new logo/banner. Hope to see your entries!

The first time I joined I didn't for ages, and now I only ever go in General Discussion otherwise. In fact, I hardly post in LEM. Actually, I don't post much at all, so the point is lostscourge34 wrote:edit: I'd wager that 85 % of them haven't been outside of LEM. I didn't for the firsrt 7 or 8 months.

I usually visit the GD forum because I think you've got a lot of funny people around. I love how you all bullshit eachother and call eachother names. Also, some of stuff posted really brings out the best in some of the posters. Yeah, when I hang around here it's always with a smile on my face.
Btw, I continued this thread here.

i used to visit lem sporadically when i tried to get into q3 mapping.
my problem with 3d mapping has always been the same; i diddle too long on one room and i get bored with it. what i should do is map the barebones version of the map and THEN worry about textures, patches and detail
i hate that about myself

If you can get past it and apply a structured approach to the process, everything falls into place.
I went through hundreds of hours of doing that and I've only recently broken the habit and introduced a method to my madness.

Doom didn't require as much work to produce a solid level, and there was only really 1 layer of work to do as you moved through constructing the space. With Q3, it's more like 3 layers of work per room (blocking it out, *test* , detail it up, *test*, sort out the clip and ents and vis, *test*.
Doing those stages in bits and pieces takes longer as you switch disciplines and spend more time compiling. I also tended to lose my overall vision of what I was going for when I just did it in any old order.
