GTKradiant Face Select No Longer Working?

Post by AEon »

I can feel a screaming fit coming about... sigh...

What in the world could I possibly have done in GTKradiant v1.2.13 to no longer be able select faces on brushes via Ctrl + Shift + Left-click.

Rebooted, and restarted the editor, loaded older map files, nothing doing. Face selection is dead. Tested GTKradiant 1.5 and there is worked, so it does not seems to be a mouse / keyboard issue.

WTH?

:(

Well seems to be some more config weirdness, had to delete

Quake3\Radiant\radiant.ini

and relaunch the editor. That seems to have fixed the problem. A diff on the new and old files, alas again does not show conclusively what the heck was messed up... drat!

So much for that quick hope...

Removing above file the first time, reset the editor, and there Face Selection worked. But after relaunching the editor, face selection was still broken. :(

I had this problem too. Try resetting radiant and grabbing a different version of your graphics driver.

Foo,
I am indeed not running the latest ATI drivers.

And I also found out that face select actually still works. Only the faces are no longer high-lighted in red.

IIRC there was some setting for this. But for the life of me I just can't find it in the prefs. I must had hit some weird key by accident that turns this off.

Just when I was really getting something done in the editor. Argl!

Well the solution was kind of simple.

DEinstall v1.2.13 and v1.2.11 (in that order), and then delete the files in the Quake3\Radiant and the main folder where you installed \GTKradiant.
Then reinstall the suckers again.

I still have no idea what the hell that was. Sigh.

You know, I have to shake my head and think 'oh dear', you seem to be the only person I've come across that's having one hell of a time trying to get the Q4 editor set up! lol

I have this unique talent, to find the bugs that everyone else overlooks and elegantly walk right into them :icon30:

I'm a plane flight away from a q4 editor, but I guess its Ctrl + J you're looking for? It toggles (or something else does) how the selected faces are shown. Wireframe, highlighted in red, not highlighted at all, etc.

Hex,
you are soo right...

I remember having that problem ages ago. And only after a lot of pain found that weird key combination. AFAICT what makes it worse it is very hard to find in the GTKradiant. I looked yesterday, and could not find anything... sigh.

Thanx.
