Because I'm a very lazy person at heart

Post by Foo »

Does anyone know of an instant on/instant off web server solution just for testing purposes?

I'd just like to be able to fire up a single program that has a web server + php ready to go, and be able to shut it back down again with one click too.

For joomla developers there's a program that does this called JSAS. It spawns an apache server, PHP, MySQL and populates the tables for you as well. But I can't find anything for plain old Apache + PHP or such. Heck, I can't even think of an appropriate search string.

Any ideas?

Seriously... 2-click access to phpMyAdmin.

I'm giggling like a child.

Well, it might stop me fucking up files.quake4world.com every time I get the urge to code, for a start.

Can you combine this with a dns client and test on the fly with select users if you wish?

It would appear so, yeah. I don't see any limitations on that.

You might have to alter the allowed client list if it's restricting to 'localhost' but I don't think it is.

thanks tor,

when me and a budd where re-doing websites and etc, we had a private server for testing and feedback this is the best package that we could find that would be able to adapt to everything.

Glad its helping out :)
