The myth of lactic acid - it's actually fuel used by muscles
That's not a big myth...lactic acid is a product of anaerobic exercise, when you use pyruvate as the final electron acceptor...forming lactic acid (lactic acid fermentation). It's not necessarily a bad thing, its just what you form. You have to form it in when in an anaerobic state.
I guess the myth part they are referrring to is whether or not it really causes muscle soreness, etc.
Ironic - because I just lectured cellular respiration today going through glycolysis, citric acid, and ETC.

Glycolysis is required before you make lactic acid, because you use th pyruvate produced as the electron acceptor...i think you mean its less efficient than aerobic respiration with oxygen at the end.Canis wrote:That's strange, because in basic metabolism they show how lactic acid is formed and broken down to create energy. Its less efficient than glycolosys, but it still generates energy.
