Its not online poker, its a game she bought from the store..

Not a moot point
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

No doubt. My systems have been solid ever since I moved from Windows 98 to 2000.

Heck I had never even heard of a BSOD until last November when I needed a new PSU. Now for 2 months I've had nothing but blue shit.

So in otherwords you can trace your problems back to a hardware event.. yet you blame the OS. I think you should keep looking

The only problems people have with Vista, worry wise, is a) Performance and b) performance in open GL.

Now a) is fine, if the desktop runs bad, turn off the effects. You can dumb it down to look like 98 if you want, you dont have to use the features.

And b), well performance in openGL is fixed already. Pretty muche very major openGL dev moaned a LOT at M$, so now, openGL will run with EXACTLY THE SAME performance as Windows XP. Not less, but the same. DX powered games may get a little benefit as the OS is built around that. But Open GL is no longer taking the hit it once was, and its by no means going to cause the end of Open GL games.

So in other words, the 2 biggest worry-wart issues of the new OS are already solved.

The only OTHER problems are c) having to upgrade, which is a pain in the arse, and b) having to switch to possible x64, which is fucking annoying because half my shit wont work in 64bit XP...

And as for BSOD I've never had one in XP. Yeah, this systemc crashes, or becomes unstable, or messes up. But thats usually my problem, because i did something wrong, or used up to much ram or some crazy shit. It only ever major fucks up when im editing in PSP/PS and I use up 2gigs worth of ram. But even then, its easy to just restart.

I think a lot of people just think "Windows" and forget that XP is actually a pretty solid OS. Way more so than 98.

people really fuck up their computers it seems

Yeah, although I've only had 4 in two days, whereas I'd get them within a minute of playing game. Could be the that the replacement power supply I bought was a complete shit. Anyone heard of "Retail Plus"? Can't even find any info on the web about the brand.

However, I do like XP, always did. I'm just pissed off >:E

You bought a PSU made by a company called "Retail Plus" and are wondering if it could be the cause of your problems? Stop and think for a minute about that....

Well there are no voltage problems and a bad power supply would cause a crash everywhere at all times, not just in games :/

WRONG

Gaming puts heavy strain on parts, which uses more power, which puts more strain on PSU, which causes dips in rails and crashes..

You're right, my mistake. Could also be the motherboard or CPU, or the whole combo. Processor fan makes a shitload of noise ever since the crashes started.

Actually this all started when my 4-month old Antec blew out both of its fans. It may have damaged my entire motherboard for all I know. Lawsuit for shitty product? >:E

It doesn't mean it's going to use 15 gigs, it means that the install requires that much for decompressing files, temp storage, etc.

A full install is about 5-6GB.
