That's the old cowboy hat hood. I hate that thing, doesn't fit in bags well. I want to get the 24 f/1.4L hood for mine, but it's like $60!!

Yeah. I read the hood is usless on a x1.6 as dave says. the only use it has is to keep rain and snow off the glass. A better hood is the EW-83D II or the EW-83H, both of which are a bit smaller.

I don't know, I've been published 4 times in 3 newspapers in the 3 months I've had a camera. I guess some got it and some dont
What's that Epson system, btw? Is it the software/printer package, or just the software? I really want a 7800 (don't try to sell me a 9800
again)

it's a 4800. same output as the 4800 just 17". you can add five other printers be they 4800, 7800 or 9800.
all epson apart from the colour management hard/software which is GBM. the gem software is fuckin ace, so easy.

My biggest worry about the pro x800 series and the R2400 is the fact that you have to waste a bunch of ink to switch from matte to glossy. I'd probably never use glossy, but it's kind of obnoxious. I just got an R1800 that seems pretty nice for the time being. It's got some banding issues, but the ink is well priced. I think the banding will go away with time. Once it does, I'm going to try a 13x19 on it. I'd hate to waste a sheet of that
