2006 Stanley Cup Finals

Post by Captain »

Alright, this will be an official 2006 Stanley Cup thread. :icon26:

Edmonton Oilers vs Carolina Hurricanes

My prediction - Oilers in 6.

Comment on post-Sabres game here as well. There's no chance they would've done anything without Teppo Numminen and Jay McKee. Toni Lydman was definitely the best defenceman. Great play from Cam Ward, except on that second goal, bit of a softy there.

I'm going to counter you, and say Carolina in 5, possibly 6. Maybe that's wishful thinking, but I think the 'Canes are gonna be too fast for Edmonton. Of course, I've been thinking that about the Oilers' opponents all post-season :|

After last round in the east I think the finals may be a bit of a let-down. I think McTavish is really gonna have to pull out some surprises.

I'd still like to see Pronger get his cup, but c'mon I'm pulling for Weight.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy

Hell of a game!

5-4

Some notes; Roloson hurt his arm/knee on a play that sent Bergeron crashing into him, trapping his right arm between the post; Ty Conklin and Jason Smith screwed up to give the Canes the lead with 30 seconds left; Cam Ward was absolutely stupendous - I couldn't believe the kinds of saves he was making in the 3rd period.

Great game indeed.

I hope Edmonton can mount a comeback but it won't be happening if Roloson is out. Scary thing is, just before the game I thought to myself what would happen if Roloson got hurt...

His hustling backcheck and shot block led to Carolina closing the deficit to 2 goals late in the 2nd.

is it possible for carolina to win a series that doesn't involve devistating injuries on the other side?

I agree with you there... but IIRC, the Stanley Cup is almost always in Canada... Toronto, actually. In the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Go Oilers!

Dwayne Roloson is out for the season. I don't see much hope for the Oilers now :icon23:
