invalid .pk3 file

im trying to join a ultra freeze server, and get the ol invalid .pk3 file message. The only files in my freeze folder are maps and a cfg file, how can there be an invalid pk3 file then?
Do I need to delete the maps and dl fresh versions?

any advice appreciated

could be in yer baseq3 as well,downloaded any new stuff lately? if not i would delete and get it agian.

Did you download everything that ufreeze has? There are a few non-map pk3 files that might not be absolutely necessary, but nonetheless are downloaded if you enable cl_allowdownload 1. Try it and join a server that lets clients grab all the assets, and see what happens.

the only recent downloads are the pqarena map, which I have not used yet, but I dont think thats it.
I turned on auto dl as I am not sure if I have all the files, but I still cant connect - it loads all the way up to about to join, the screen shows all the icons for loading, players etc, but then I still get the invalid pk3 message.
I deleted the ufreeze folder, re-downloaded it, but no real change.
thanks for the suggestions, what do I need to do from here? do I (gulp) need to do a complete re-install? Or how about just deleting all the non vanilla maps?

edit: some of my map names end in .tmp, eg:storm3tourney4.pk3.tmp
could these be incomplete files?

edit2: I've removed all the pk3 files from my unfreeze, and baseq3 folders, no change

this is the only server that does it, I also removed the freeze files, and set auto dl to retreive them again from teh server, but it doesnt dl them, it just gives me the invalid pk3 message.
any other suggestions please?

Maybe it's some sort of mac related download issue? Most popular servers these days seem to be running 'core60' pk3 files, and the one you can grab off the net is only core57, so someone updated the game since, maybe it was a community update.

Does ase say 'ufreeze version 1.6' under info pane? If you don't have these other core files I can zip them up for you?

its 1.6, I got the downloads from the server website, so im pretty sure these are right. I think its a map problem with dm6, when i can ill copy the pk3 files off the cd again and see if it connects; otherwise, ill pop back an ask some more.
