They said that Argentina would do that in the last friendly we played with them. We've shown in the past that we can raise our game - I just hope that we do it at just the right moment to wipe the smirks of faces the world over.

it's true though - that was the worst called match i've seen so far, and i wasn't rooting for either side. terribly called.

didn't think i'd cheer for yanks about anything ever again after dec 2000 - but they put on a great show there, the ref was a cunt.

Didn't see what happened in the beginning, but, I watched a bit towards the end and I really do think the US was quite undeserving of that tie.

Apparently Americans confuse soccer with football in more ways than one.

it wasn't THAT bad. both teams were quite physical, but i have to say that a particular black dude on the US's squad was getting carried away with his hands often.

Well, I had the American OUTRAGE (IM SO MAD) about the second yellow card in mind.
A lot of people seem to argue that "was just a tackle, what's wrong with that".

well i think most of the cards pulled were over the top. one of the tackles earned one of the Italians a Red card. wtf? it was MAYBE a yellow AND was the first offense by that guy.
i'll go as far as saying that was some of the worst officiating i've seen in recent memory of ANY sport i've watched.

he elbowed him in the face. that sort of thing is severely frowned on in football, on the pitch anyway. otherwise the ref was awful.

no, there was another one. of course an elbow in the face and blood being drawn is warrant enough for a red card.
*edit*
Mastroeni's tackle of Pirlo in around the 45th minute was the one i was talking about. and you're right, i got them mixed up.
