Dual channel rram

Post by corpse »

I have an Asus motherboard and I'm confused about my ram. I have 2 matching sticks of 512 and it shoudl be dual channel. I have the ram in the right slots for dual channel.

When the computer comes on it says Dual channel..linnear mode

Does this mean its dual channel? Not sure what the linnear mode means.

"In other words, the fact that your BIOS says "Linear" mode is only a different word for Dual Channel

Thanks for the clearification.

Im a little stumped because I jsut bought a Radeon x1600 Pro with 512 Ram and it gives me a worse score on the demo four [quake 3] than my Radwon 9800 Pro with 128 Ram.

How the hell does this make sense.

My 9800 gives me roughly 4.9 seconds and 259 fps

the 1600 gives me roghly 5.1 seconds and around 238 fps

Update your x1600 drivers.

I have the latest catalyst 6.5 from the ATI site. Shouldn't this be the most up to date?

Yes they are - just a process of elimination.
