It addresses some client/server exploits.

Neither Only Mortal.

And it seems like 1.32c client can make 1.32b servers crash upon connecting. I've seen servers crashing left and right tonight when people connects.

That's odd!

I downloaded the 1.32c patch, but when I get info on it, it says that it's version 1.32b. Although the link on the idsoftware.com refers to the 1.32c patch.

Can someone please explain this to me?

Has the protocol version changed? If so, you can always type it into the preferences of OM.

1.32c is a lot slower than 1.32b G4 version June 19 2002 (?). They must have been a bit lazy with the optimisation options in the compiler.

So I noticed. It's an issue for me, still using my G4 667 PB. On Jaguar, 2-3 years ago, with the help of this forum (esp. Medic), I was able to get 165fps (from timedemoing Demo Four). I lost about 25-30 fps in the move to Panther. On 1.32c, still under Panther, I'm only getting 100-110fps.

Also, whilst trying to find the optimum cfg because of the framerate drop, I discovered something different about the best com_maxfps for jumping....
Using the 'megahealth jump' in Q3DM13 I was able to reach the megahealth with the following com_maxfps....
31(sometimes this doesn't work???)
36, 37
44, 45
56, 57, 58
77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82 (83 no longer works???).... I also tried some higher figures which worked, but never kept note of them.

usually fps between 121 and 125 where said to work best. Is that unattainable to you now?
If yes, is it not possible to play on current servers without the 1.32c patch? (Yes I haven't played in years).

The short answer seems to be 'yes'. I'll let you know if I come up against any problem with it, but the fresh install I did just now yielded 175fps(!!!!) with 1.32b (after what I said before, I am surprised at such a result). I was surprised it worked, too, given the aim of 1.32c is to give servers security against the client during autodownload.... maybe that's when it will all go wrong... I'll have to run both if that is the case.

I play on current servers with 1.32b all the time. There doesnt seem to be a problem at all.
