I have been using it for 15 years and I don’t really know how it works but it’s insane the way it can translate sometimes and the worst translator is from our national TV.
I’ll try to show you some of it but it’s in French.
I cant watch TV or DVD without subs on anymore, it just feels odd, i need them on. Its like i'm missing a part of the film if i dont have them on for some reason.
most stuff shown on dutchee teevee has subs (since dutch programs suck ).
when i watch a movie i usually turn english subs on.. like it better that way, just in case theres a loud noise while something important is being said or whatever.
i want my subs to be litterally though, not paraphrased. i hate that
I remember watching that Jesus Christ movie and trying to put it to english.
There was no fucking way I was going to watch a movie while having to read WTF they were saying.
I pretty much always have subtitles on, just because it is easier to follow the dialog at low volumes.

i usually leave them on cause of low volume, but I like reading sometimes cause I'm retarded and when it comes to some words (usually names) it's nice to have them in writing,

the exact same reason I have them on at all times
And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command, we shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine patris, et fili, et spiritus sancti.
Same here. If I'm watching something and I can't hear the dialog I turn the fucking volume up...if it's late enough that loud noises would annoy the neighbors then I watch it another time.

And how does reading subtitles make you lazy? Does it take that much effort for you to hear things?

I have it setup the same as Tormentius when the tv is in mute subtitles are turned on. However I have little to no use for subtitles, unless I'm watching a foreign film.

Now that would be a good reason to use them. :icon14:
Clever and nice move of you for your soon to be wife. Now, you should try to post in a french forum. Challenging, hey! Well if I can make it here you can make it too....Well, I am still struggling after more than 16 months but I am sure taht I will make it.
The only downside to keeping subs on all the time is they can occasionally obscure boobies
