I never understood that, it was marketed as a horror game but you can't make one without water. Water monsters are always the scariest.

Where are you going to find water to sustain these sea creatures on:

a) Mars

b) Hell

Yeah, you're absolutely right.

Doom is too realistic for water. Duh.

One would imagine that any sort of ultra high-tech space facility that happens to be filled with pipes and steam would have at least a little water.

I'm glad there's no water in Doom 3. I always hate water, no matter which game. In FPS games water is always horrible. Even in Mario the water levels are the worst.

And huge pools of water don't make any sense whatsoever anyway

Water is easy to do in the doom 3 engine. TBH that effect isn't exactly "wow amazing". They could have alpha masked the edges to simulate water blend, they could have depth fog, they could have reltime reflection and refraction isntead of just refraction etc :p

OD has all these and more :p

But at least somebody bothered to try!

Ah, would've been sweet to run across a large pool area where some sort of cyborg/hell spawn giant squid attempts to grab you and pull you down into death...
