Yup. Ive seen half a dozen game-altering calls that the refs simply got wrong. There is incidental contact on EVERY play where two ppl are jockeying for position, its not always a fucking foul. When you give a team a pk, your essentially giving them a goal.. and you shouldn't do that unless the foul is absolutely blatant and intentional.
Props to Ghana though, they played well.
What happened to that bald ref that everyone liked from the last WC? That dude called clean games all the time. I think he got too old and FIFA made him retire.

pierluigi collina. he was england's lucky ref, since we always won when he was on the field (he reffed when we beat germany 5-1 and then argentina in the 2002 finals)

Right, but giving the other team a goal right after the US fights to get the tie back changes the entire complexion of the game, and changes the way both teams play in the second half. Regardless, its impossible to say what would have happened if that penalty hadn't been called - it may well have been the same result. It's just frustrating to see the ref's being such a huge factor on the outcome of the game.
I guess I will jump on the Brazil/Argentina bandwagon.. GO WESTERN HEMISPHERE!!
