I haven't played Quake III in forever and a half... I suddenly get that urge to play it. I put in a BURNT disc a friend gave me to try to get online and play. The disc worked before, however before I couldn't get online but I like online FPS's. So I put in the disc, open the E drive that its in and the files come up.
There's Quake3.exe
and there's quake31.27.exe
Both, when i try to open have the console come up, the screen goes black, im ready to see the quake 3 opening cinematics, and bam -- back to windows and in the console it says at the bottom:
GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
If anyone knows what this means please help, I use Windows XP and I'm not a computer buff... only know so much about computers being 15 years old.
Tormentius save me! :icon27:

Could not load OpenGL subsystem?
Ok well how can I check the specs so I can tell you? Also, I've never seen Quake 3 in any stores at all and I've been to a lot, guess it doesnt matter now, he lost his main copy but had an extra burnt 1. He didn't play it anymore so he just gave it to me for -- ha, 10 bucks.
Well just let me know how to check the specs... I do have 2 drivers that can play games, D and E -- E = DVD drive however. I tried the D drive but it didn't work either, same error.

This is what the console read when I tried to run Quake31.27.exe incase it helps because it looked more like a sequence of some errors... it all went good until this part here:
...GLW_ChoosePFD failed
...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT
...restoring display settings
...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3)
...shutting down QGL
...unloading OpenGL DLL
...assuming '3dfxvgl' is a standalone driver
...initializing QGL
...WARNING: missing Glide installation, assuming no 3Dfx available
...shutting down QGL
----- CL_Shutdown -----
RE_Shutdown( 1 )
-----------------------
GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
No clue what any of that means, if you can make sense of it and tell me what I have to do to fix it. If I can't fix it without buying new hardware (which shouldn't be the case, at least I hope...), then I'll just play it on another computer that can run it, just less often.
I say less often because the computer I'm having the errors on is sort of... MY computer in the house, the only other I could use besides my father's or sister's is my brother's and I wouldn't have as much availability to play it when I want to. It doesn't matter THAT much to me to buy things for my computer to get it to work, just enough to try and fix it myself by posting for help on a forum, I play WoW as my 'main game' anyways.
Thanks for any help...
