Best model for forcemodeling?

I know in osp/cpma it's keel since there's brightskins available, but what about for baseq3? As of now I've been using keel/blue with the headmodel bones/default.

Baseq3 is still Keel/Blue

CPMA OSP like you said, Keel/pm with cg_enemymodel and cg_enemycolor

Don't play baseq3 - barely anyone does now since OSP is exactly the same gameplay plus extra features.

In osp people are just too good for me, so I usually play baseq3 ctf since in ffa I get spawn raped too much, and there's no duel servers with good ping for me.

You're alright. You got smudged earlier because you had a ping of about 150 and most everyone else had a ping of sub 20.

You'll only get better playing better people, but try finding OSP servers on more favourable terms (I.E. close to you with ping between 20 and 60).

Oh and tweak the crap outta your config :)

Isn't there pre-made cfgs out there? There was some arqon cfg in my cpma folder so I just took that and applied it to the rest of my game.

In baseq3 it helps playing with vertex light and r_mapoverbrightbits 3 + a higher r_gamma like 1.5

Yeah. Actually, I'd suggest playing Rocket Arena some. I love to play ra3 with 999 health and 999 armor just to build up consistancy and stamina against tough players. It's better and over some time it'll help you get more skill at Quake entirely. : ]

Becuase in certain situation he's bigger then the hitbox, and his death animation is a bit sketchy, so you can waste ammo on him after he's dead.

It's all personal preferences anyway. I for one uses tankjr as my model, and sarge/iiii as my enemymodel.

Please, RA3 sucks for developing skill. I once played a 2v2 against 2 players from a very respectable RA3 clan. Their score in OSP went into negative while ours went over 100, it's one of the biggest kickings I've ever done. (The other being a 200 score on dm6 in 2v2 on a LAN :smirk: )

I personally use a TankJr, and death animation is for noobs. Just turn on the dead body filter and you'll have less trash on your screen anyway. Who gives a bleedin fuck if you can pummel the corpse after you kill them, that's for newbs.

The issue with RA3 and CA too is that the players move differently and it requires a different style, thought process, and settings to get the most from it.

Most specifically, in CA and RA3 there's no items hence people are never really heading to and from anything, no weighting in the level. So you tend to get into situations more where you're facing each other down rather than playing off the levels items. Where in 1v1 you would be drawing lines to follow players with the LG, in CA and RA3 you're zip-zagging the gun to try and match a zig-zagging player.

I find I do much better in CA with cl_mouseaccel and consistent sensitivity, but better in 1v1 with no accel. In promode I vary sens for guns because the 0-second switch means there's no penalty for doing so.

TBH that's an old low-detail config I use for testing maps.

I was looking through some pro-players' configs such as fatal1ty and zero4 and I noticed that they had sarge/blue foreced instead of keel or tankjr.

is it because tourney rules have a rule against forcing keel or only being able to force to sarge?

You will probably find that they're forcing sarge for their own model but cg_enemymodel in OSP/CPMA is set to keel\pm

Hence their character and their team is sarge but enemies are keel.
