Linux & Games
Well, since I really don't have too much of an income, I was going to use Linux for a pc that I would build my self. Question is though, could I install the windows versions of my games that are supported on Linux? Specifically, Quake 1- 3, UT99, Unreal 1, Ut2k4, Tribes 2, and Doom 3.

Depends on the game. I don't think something like D3 will work, but for Q3, just copy over the EXE and PK3 files in the right directories and you are good to go. Q1-2 may be the same process, but never tried it myself.

Re: Linux & Games
There are native ports for Q1 - Q3, UT99, UT2004, and Doom 3. Unreal can be played in UT99 via the Oldskool mod (no RTNP, though). Tribes 2 was ported, but Loki Games is gone -- so try cedega or wine, maybe.I cant spell u wrote:Well, since I really don't have too much of an income, I was going to use Linux for a pc that I would build my self. That said, the procedure for installing the games is not the same for every one. I recommend that you learn more about Linux first. At the very least, decide on whether or not you like your particular distribution as a desktop OS before getting into more advanced stuff (and yes, installing proprietary games can fall under "advanced," even though it shouldn't).
