Is what so hard to accept? Any claim of it being in the right or wrong?

God? :olo:
These bastards thinks this makes us equal or come close to some godlike entity? I sure as hell wouldn't want to be perfectly engineered. Gattaca is an interesting movie to watch on this point.

You know we really shouldn't plant crops - Pretty sure god put plants down on earth for us to eat and we should rely on what he gives us.

First off, people are jealous.
Imagine you could have been born perfect.
So they bitch about it.

Second. Since there was religion in Europe, people have
all ways called science evil. Look Earth is not round.
Chemistry is the work of black magic, blah blah .
It's all ways been like that. This is our version of dark ages paranoia.
Oh, and jealousy.

I'm not saying what we have learned is bad or that science isn't able to do some stuff but comparing ourself to some creator-like entity just because we can do a tad more then we used to is overreacting. I'm opposed to seeing this as fucking superman jump over a building but more as a small step.

Just as in Gattaca, I wouldn't trust a doctor to have any clue what "perfect" is.

For Star Trek nerds, I would point to Khan :)

In the op-ed, the author holds the position that these therapies existing and on-coming are "in the right" to use your language. He notes the somewhat arbitrary distinction between what's considered playing god and what's not.
It will be easier and better in every way to get rid of a tiny collection of cells. This is indeed playing God, as all the usual campaigners were quick to point out last week. But what on earth is wrong with humans playing God? I am all for it, especially as God doesn’t seem to be doing it. Besides, whatever we may think about playing God and defying nature, we are doing it already and even though we don’t necessarily recognise it, we approve of it.
So given the implicit and/or explicit approval of human activities that could be considered "playing god" in the here and now, I ask "Is this so difficult for some to accept?". This being the incremental move towards more targetted manipulation or ourselves?

Though not in the order laid out in this post, the author also bolsters the consequential case for the use of these technologies. Wherein positive consequences are taken to be those that reduce harm and improve overall quality of life, over some supposed overriding vaguely defined poorly articulated metaphysical principle.

Yes, and should circumstances justify it, regulations are and will remain an ever-present option.

[color=#FFBFFF]A lot of people would say it's a bad idea, on your first day out of prison, to go right back to stalking the tranny hooker that knocked out five of your teeth. But that's how I roll..[/color]

Nah, just rename Neptune to "Enemy Homeworld" and watch the doubling time for scientific knowledge shrink to months during the gear up. Those fucking limp wristed Neptunians don't stand a chance.

Chorus 2X: samples from "Still Tippin'"]
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me - I SAID"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me"
"Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me - I SAID"

[Mike Jones]
Mike Jones!!
Befo' I came up in the game these hoes didn't show no love
They see me in the club and used to treat me like a scrub
They wouldn't holla cause my dollars wasn't swoll enough
I bet they change they mind when them 80 4's come rollin up
They see that I'm a star, now they wanna sit in my car
Now they wanna count my cheese, smoke my weed and sip my bar now
They used to love to me diss me, now they rush to hug and kiss me now
They tellin all they friends when I leave how they miss me now
2 8 1, 3 3 oh, eight zero zero fo'
Hit Mike Jones up on the low cause Mike Jones about to blow
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was heah, geah
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was heah, geah
Befo' the ice was in my grill, befo' I got my major deal
These hoes wouldn't give a damn if I was heah, geah - because

[Chorus]

[Mike Jones]
I remember back den, most of them hoes couldn't stand me
But now them same hoes beggin me to pull down they panties
A couple of 'em said I was cute but I was just too chubby
Same size a year later the same hoes wanna fuck me
Because they see me paid, pimpin pens, workin my jelly
And I ain't trippin cause my pockets stick out mo' than my belly
They know I'm paid, livin laid in the shade
2 slabs in the Escalade with fo' or five estates
Then know that I got it made, I'm a motherfuckin baller
She would want a nigga now but I ain't got no time to call her
I'ma stall her like she stalled me, now she tryin to call me
Bitch I'ma drown yo' whole ass like you Dom P
I'm Mike Jones, don't act like you don't know the name
Ain't nuttin changed but my change, I'ma stay the same
I'm Mike Jones, don't act like you don't know the name
Ain't nuttin changed but my change, I'ma stay the same

[Chorus]

[Mike Jones]
Befo' my paper came, befo' I got my fame
These hoes that's poppin on me now didn't even know my name
They said my flow was lame, they said I had no game
I told 'em all I was fin' to blow they thought I was insane
But they my name started blowin up quick, now they jumpin on my dick
Cause they see me on the rise and oh now my paper thick
But they my name started blowin up quick, now they jumpin on my dick
Because they see me on the rise and oh now my paper thick

[Chorus - 2X
