Actually, Petty was pretty mediocre. Only played radio hits, didn't mix up the music, etc. Kind of boring. He was definitely eclipsed by PJ.

Yup, he played it. And every other radio song he has. There were about three songs of his I didn't recognize, and I'm not even a Petty fan.

yes...

Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks
Some doors are open
Some roads are blocked

Sundowns are golden
Then fade away
But if I never do nothing
I'm coming back some day

Cause you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And I can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down

All around your island
There's a barricade
It keeps out the danger
Holds in the pain

Sometimes you're happy
And sometimes you cry
Half of me is ocean
Half of me is sky

But you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And I can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down

And some things are over
Some things go on
Part of me you carry
And part of me is gone

But you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And I can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down

You got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And I can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down

Aye, he's good. I just never got into him or bought any albums. That's why it was surprising that I knew his entire setlist. I was hoping to hear something that I didn't know, that would entice me to check out more of his stuff... but alas...

He did play one song from his upcoming cd that was pretty good. Saving Grace I think it was called.

I saw Pearl Jam after Yield came out. Best concert ever. After the intermission, they came out and sang more songs than the first half.

I saw them on that tour, too. PJ play some of the best shows you'll ever see. It's too bad people lost interest in their albums, because they'd be surprised at seeing them live. Completely different band. :icon14:

they are the best live band around right now. no question.
go to back to back shows, you hear about 50 different songs.

go see 95% of the other bands out there and you might hear one or two different songs in the setlists.

Indeed. I just checked the set lists for the two nights they were in town.

Between both nights they played 35 total songs... and only 5 were repeats.

Petty only switched up about 3 songs. :olo:

35 a night for PJ as a headliner is not out of the question. I've seen a lot of shows where they played for at least 3 hrs.
damn, this kinda stuff makes me long for the glory days. turining 21 in seattle and seeing mother love bone, green river, PJ, soundgarden, nirvana, AIC, screeming trees, mudhoney, et. al. in some shit bar holding 300 people was a prety fucking good time.
christ, I'm getting old.

Damn... I wish I was there for that. I'd have killed to see Green River, Soundgarden, and AIC, esp.

btw... PJ was opening for Petty and only got 90 minutes, so the 17/18 song set was pretty impressive.

I'd rather not have those people at pearl jam concerts. There's always some guy who tags along to a show who bitches because "THEY DIDN'T PLAY JEREMY :E!" I'm glad they alienated 75% of their following when they released No Code

Last time I saw Pearl Jam, 12 people died.

Never liked them much, even before that.
