I was walking through a store today and saw a 12 pack of Steel Reserve 211. I had already stocked up though for 4th of July with some Bud-Light - a sublime American beer (4th of July=America Fuck Yeah) so I didn't buy any.

For those that don't know, Steel Reserve is a malt liquor similiar to Olde English except it's over 8% - about twice the alcohol content of domestic beer - and it's only like $2 a 40 oz. Problem with 40s is that they don't keep cool for very long, a 12 pack of Steel Reserve 211 is God's gift to man.

my refrigerator is tiny. I can only hold about 6 40s. I can fit way more beer when it's in 12 ounce cans so I can stack them. Plus this means I can do so much more with Steel Reserve.
In order of importance:
1. Tailgate (40s won't fit in the cooler).
2. Beer bonging is a lot eaiser to keep track of. I'd call anyone a lier if they said they can bong a whole 40 oz of Steel Reserve. Now I can pour two cans in my 5 footer (it only holds about 2.5 beers, it's pretty skinny but I rarely get any air bubbles or foam and it's got a pretty sweet valve) instead of having to estimate half the 40. Estimating half the 40 isn't hard, but the beer on the second half gets flat.
3. Drinking games where you need 12 oz beer.
4. Being able to walk out of the store with 3 twelve packs intead of trying to fuck around with like 12 40s.

Ok, I lied, but I'm paying under a dollar a beer. I don't drink for the taste - beer anyway.

I shell out some pretty big bucks for hard stuff, but that's only about once a month and it's not party stuff. I'm really only a party/social drinker. I feel no need to alone and would rather play some drinking games with some close buds instead of sipping alone.

Unlike the cliche of coming home from work and having a beer alone, I find it a lot more fun to come home after 9 hours and sit around a table with some friends and a deck of cards going through some of the games we know.
During the school year, the same applies after a hard day of class work or finals. Nights where I'm too tired to go crazy at a party.

and tbh I don't see why not drinking beer for the taste is so weird. I'd take a soda over a beer any day for the taste. Beer is just for chemical effect. It's not like I don't like the taste of beer, it's just that there are a lot of other things that taste better.

Most people who drink beer do so because they like the taste of it. And what chemical effect are you talking about? Getting drunk? There are plenty of other things you can get drunk with other than beer if you prefer the taste.

PS: Bud Light tastes like shit after you drink a good beer. I know, I used to drink it. Never again.

In that case, drinking beer is stupid because:

Beer typically costs more, is less healthy for you, requires ingesting a larger volume, gives you gas, and causes more waste than most harder liquors.
