ReBirth now for free

Post by chopov »

For the (acid) music freaks of you:
Propellerhead quit the support for the ReBirth-Synthesizer (THE software emulation of the Roland TB-303 and 808). The full version (.iso) is now available for free as well as numerous mod's and third party apps for it.

Didn't test it yet but I read somewhere on the page that the program needs the (burned) CD in the drive to run. Little bit absurd but I bet theres somewhere a noCD crack on the net...

Except for the fact Gary Numan wasn't a much of TR808/909/TB303 user since the sound he's best know for is from 1979/1980 thus predating their production. Try the SCI Prophet 5, ARP Odyssey, MiniMoog and PolyMoog for starters into that Numan sound.

Its a fun program. The 303 emulation is far from perfect, but its pretty damn close. And far cheaper than buying the real thing too. It also hooks into reason nicely. It was actually the first music app I ever used, and still gets a regular workout.

heh, first music program i ever used was Scream Tracker 3. Then i realized how superior FastTracker II was.
too bad no one has made a good tracker for windows. buzz is cute, but most everything is crap compared to the old dos guys.
