Your statement is no more relevant than his.
What if his statement is true, is it still garbage?
Thousands of Mexicans are trying the same thing everyday in the US.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanese-Canadian
The are some 143,000 Lebanese-Canadians, making them by far the largest group of Arab-Canadians.
Lebanese immigration began in 1882, because of situations within Lebanon and restrictive Canadian laws these immigrants were 90% percent Christian. These immigrants were mostly economic migrants seeking greater prosperity in the New World. In more recent years this pattern has changed, and large numbers of Lebanese Muslims and Druze have come to Canada. Immigration laws were liberalized after the Second World War, and immigration steadily increased in the 1950s and 1960s. The greatest influx of Lebanese was during the Lebanese Civil War, and this period saw a number of Lebanon's wealthiest and best educated move to Canada to flee the violence in their homeland. Canada was the only western country (besides Australia) to set up special programs to enable Lebanese to more easily come to Canada and it set up an office in Cyprus to process Lebanese refugees.
Many Lebanese speak French and unlike most other immigrant groups preferred to settle in francophone Montreal than anglophone Toronto. About half the Lebanese-Canadian community is located in and around Montreal, and most Lebanese-Canadian organizations, especially religious ones, are based in that city. There are substantial Lebanese populations in Toronto, Windsor, and Halifax, and Lebanese-Canadians are one of the largest ethnic groups in Ottawa.

hey man that's totally out of line. seems youre jumping to conclusions while accusing me of the same.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:hey they're brown and trapped they must be poor sponging criminals and I'm sure they haven't contributed their fair share.
my numbers have been gleaned from various newspapers. thing is i do have an open mind and stay away from calling people racist. if you read what i said, i do stay away from stating my opinions as fact. thats why i put question marks after most of my statements. yeah they are hard questions that most people are scared to ask.
now if we go by your numbers, 140,000 lebanese canadians. that means almost 50% are over there right now. if you have no problems with that i think maybe i'll come to you with my next sob story and should have no problems getting you to give me mucho $$.

i'm not the only one being skeptical as the numbers of lebanese canadians stuck in lebanon grew from 10,000 to 30,000(registered)and more like 60,000.
and please don't play me for stupid. i know what citizenship means and the rights thereto. this will be a good lesson for future large scale humanitarium acts from canada. there has been a long running travel advisory for lebanon from the canadian government to make sure you have all papers in order and be ready to go at anytime.
i'm not scared to help people puff, but things you should learn as you get older is the scammers are ALWAYS out there. a scammer is a scammer, no matter white or brown.
peace man.

why should I have a problem with this and what evidence do you have that them being there is any sort of scam on anyone?shadd_ wrote:HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:hey they're brown and trapped they must be poor sponging criminals and I'm sure they haven't contributed their fair share.

all of a sudden there are 50-70 thousand Canadians in Lebanon? Are you sure? If there are 30000 then that's only 20% not 50% right?
the webpage you quote acts like it's a mystery why there would be so many Lebanese Canadians compared to American ones but then later admits Canada allowed more Lebanese immigrants than anyone else. Mystery solved.
What's with you making statements like, 'once they got their citizenship and things settled down they all fucked off back to lebanon.
so now all these thousands of lebanese we helped out years ago, instead of staying here and help make canada more productive went back there with no intention of ever setting foot in canada again, want us canadian taxpayers to foot the bill once more to save their ass.'
I don't think I've been out of line. I think you're clueless. You think Lebanese Canadians aren't grateful and productive just because some are living in Lebanon? Lame.

I for one would have to vouch that the lack of stricter immigration policies have done their part in producing debt across the country. I mean any deadbeat can come to Canada and mooch off welfare. Heck, you'll find bastards that have lived in Canada for years and years and STILL can't speak fucking English. In the words of Penn and Teller, it's bullshit. Canada fucked up and now every taxi driver in the GTA is a curry-smelling Indian who doesn't understand a word of English and does his best to annoy you right the fuck off.HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:what shitty policies are you refering to specifically?shadd_ wrote:this has fuck all to do with bombings. it has to do with the SOME of the shitty past immigration policies in canada.

peace man.shadd_ wrote: how about this proposal? anyone who has not been back in this country the last 2 years should have to pay back monies spent on their evacuation unless you were born on canadian soil.
so you're proposing different classes of citizens based on who was born here? Also are you suggesting Lebanese Canadians have no right to visit Lebanon because the country is in an unstable region?

n the mid-1990s, the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration undertook a study on the economic impact of immigration and concluded that Canada's immigration program has significantly contributed to this country's pool of human capital and the size of the Canadian economy. Quite simply, immigrants enrich the social and economic fabric of this country.

CIC recognizes the benefits of attracting highly skilled workers. Nearly 59 percent of Canada's immigrants are in the skilled worker and business immigrant categories. They help fill shortages in our labour market or invest in our economy and contribute to Canada's economic growth.
CIC works to attract specialized temporary workers to Canada through programs for software development professionals and spouses of highly skilled workers. In 2002, CIC officers abroad and in Canada issued over 211,570 work permits to temporary residents and more than 138,500 visas to economic immigrants and their dependants.

Indeed. Legal Canadian immigration runs on a 'points' system allocated based on your skills and circumstances. With a degree, being in a sector they were actively seeking, and with intermediate-level french, I only hit 97 of the required 100 points to apply.
